Marlon Brando was notoriously difficult to work with. Most notably, for every shoot he was on a least later in his career when he could get away with it, for one random take on the first day of shooting, he would completely phone it in.
Not try at all. If the director didn’t notice then Brando concluded the director didn’t know what he was doing and Brando would make his life a living hell for the rest of the shoot. Here are some of the mind-blowing facts about Marlon Brando you probably didn’t knew before.
He would munch down breakfasts consisting of corn flakes, sausages, eggs, bananas and cream and a huge stack of pancakes drenched in maple syrup. This led to Brando nicknaming himself Branflakes.
During the shooting of One Eyed Jacks he would eat two steaks, potatoes, two apple pies a la mode and a quart of milk. At his birthday party that year, he received a belt with the card ‘hope it fits’ from the crew.
His second wife, Movita, put a lock on the house refrigerator. One morning, she found the lock broken en Brando’s teeth marks on a cheese.
He would often go to a hot dog joint in L.A. called Pink’s at 3 or 4 am, eating six hot dogs at a time.
During the shooting of Mutiny on the Bounty, he split 52 pairs of pants. Afterwards, a stretch fabric was used on his clothes. He split those too.
He would eat two chickens and an entire Pepperidge Farm cookies package in one sitting.
While filming Missouri Breaks, he fished a frog out of a pond, took a bite of it and put it back in.
His eating habits are the reason his character is shown in the shadows for the majority of his time in Apocalypse Now.
One of his favorite snacks was a pound of cooked bacon placed in an entire bread.
This one is my favorite: one of his girlfriends broke up with him because he wouldn’t keep his promise to lose weight. Whatever the diet he wouldn’t be losing weight. Turns out his friends threw bags of Burger King Whoppers over the gate.
